Abstract: Learning a foreign language often presents challenges that tend to discourage modern students more easily than in the past. Generation Z is no longer satisfied with traditional classroom practices, creating an urgent need to restructure and enrich existing teaching approaches. Augmented Reality (AR) is one such technology that has the potential to offer authentic language experiences and transform learning into an engaging and interactive process.

This study highlights a range of advantages that establish AR as an innovative and valuable educational tool for teaching foreign languages, as well as the learning theories underlying its effectiveness. Additionally, it showcases a series of best practices and tested activities for how educators can integrate AR into their classrooms for teaching English as a foreign language, developed within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA220 program “Augmented Reality Instructional Design in Language Learning.” The study also discusses the benefits of these interventions, along with the challenges and limitations associated with their implementation.
