Cyprus University of Technology (Cyprus Interaction Lab and Language Centre) and the University of Cyprus (Language Centre and Kios Research and Innovation Centre) has successfully hosted the Augmented Reality Instructional Design for Language Learning (ARIDLL) workshop on Wednesday July 7th, 2023. The workshop brought together language educators, technologists, and enthusiasts to explore the exciting potential of augmented reality (AR) in language instruction.

ARIDLL aimed to bridge the gap between traditional language learning methods and cutting-edge technology by showcasing the transformative power of augmented reality. Participants delved into immersive learning experiences and discovered how AR can revolutionize language acquisition and engagement.

During the workshop, attendees were exposed to a comprehensive range of topics, including the concept of augmented reality, successful case studies, and best practices for incorporating AR into language instruction. Through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and collaborative activities, participants gained hands-on experience with AR tools, platforms, and resources.

“ARIDLL provided a unique platform for language educators to explore innovative pedagogical approaches,” said Antigoni Parmaxi, Special Teaching Staff at Cyprus University of Technology. “We were thrilled to witness the enthusiasm and engagement of our participants as they discovered the limitless possibilities AR offers in language learning.”

The workshop facilitated networking and knowledge exchange among educators, fostering a supportive community dedicated to leveraging AR for enhanced language instruction. Participants left the event with actionable insights, practical ideas, and a renewed sense of enthusiasm to integrate AR into their teaching practices.

As the demand for immersive and interactive learning experiences continues to grow, AR emerges as a powerful tool to captivate learners and promote language proficiency. By leveraging AR technology, educators can create dynamic and engaging language learning environments that enhance student motivation, interactivity, and retention.

The Cyprus University of Technology remain committed to pioneering innovative educational solutions that empower educators and students alike. By organizing workshops like ARIDLL, the organization strives to facilitate professional development opportunities that equip educators with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the evolving landscape of education.
